The 24 Things To Do Before 24

My half birthday just passed recently. With every new sunrise, I am quickly approaching the mature and responsible three-year era I call "The Mid-Twenties." Growing up, I had always foreseen myself to have ascertained a level of composure and accomplishment by this time in my life. Now that it is suddenly looming, and I am obviously lacking the maturity and composure I always expected myself to possess by now and any real accomplishments, I have decided to make a list of 24 things to do before 24.

Here goes:

01| Learn how to ice skate.
02| Dine at Rasika.
03| Visit a haunted house.
04| Go hiking for the first time.
05| Attend a professional sporting event.
06| Feel the sand between my toes at my first beach.
07| Tour the International Spy Museum.
08| Volunteer for a philanthropy event.
09| Get accepted into a school.
10| See a Broadway show.
11| Read at least 5 nonfiction books.
12| Learn how to apply eyeliner/eye make up.
13| Keep up my blog for longer than 6 months.
14| Watch the Academy Award winners for Best Picture in the last 5 years.
15| Unlock everything unlockable in Mario Kart Wii.
16| Make a dessert from scratch.
17| Be legally certified.
18| Road trip somewhere new.
19| Have a sober game night of fun with friends. And a non-sober one, as well.
20| Put more effort/thought into my outfits.
21| Create a diverse and extensive music collection.
22| Do something completely unplanned and spontaneous.
23| Try a new beer at least once every 2 weeks.
24| Put some money into a rainy day fund.

So here's to crossing off my list!

Reviewing The iSkin

I received my iSkin keyboard protector in the mail several days ago, which was much earlier than I was expecting it to arrive. I've been using it for a few days now just to get a feel for it so I can give my review on the product. And, I have to say that it's pretty good! There isn't much for me to complain about.

The Pros: The iSkin covers the whole keyboard area, yet it doesn't add any bulkiness. The outside texture of the protector is anti-slip and doesn't add any new weirdness for when typing. I guess the flexibility of it really helps to move with the keys. When I was doing research on keyboard protectors,  online reviews mentioned that it may take getting used to typing with the iSkin, but that wasn't the case for me. I instantly adjusted. The bottom/back is also made to grip onto the surface of your laptop so as not to slip. I can already see dust and little crumbs collecting on it instead of getting into my keys.

The Cons: There isn't much to dislike, except mainly its color. Although the rest of my new laptop is pristine and white, the iSkin has an off-white, yellowish tint that makes the keyboard look slightly dirty. I don't know if that's the case with everyone's or if the bottom of mine is just getting dirty already. Other than that, I don't know how effective the anti-bacterial function of the iSkin is since there really isn't a way for me to test that. And the price! It was a little expensive for the tiny package and its shipping cost. All in all, I spent just under $32. But if this prolongs the life of the keyboard, I wouldn't mind a little costliness.

Conclusion: This is definitely worth it! I give this a +4.5 on a scale* from -5.0 to +5.0.

_____________________________________
Addendum: *I actually got this scale from one of the Fab 4. A zero is the neutral, middle point, while any positive number stands for something above neutral and any negative number stands for something below neutral. The max +5.0 means that something is incredibly amazing; similarly the minimum -5.0 means that something is disastrously terrible. We believe this is a superior scale than the ubiquitous 0-5 or 0-10 scales.

Inspiration

I'm daunted by the idea of putting myself out there for the world to read and to dissect, and I'm also frustrated by where and how to find the inspiration for my posts. But when I read the thoughts of my Twin on his blog, I am immediately awed every time. The strength with which he carries on through every situation he encounters is a huge inspiration in my life. He sees so much limitless possibility in the most seemingly innocuous things, and he finds inspiration effortlessly.

I'm so grateful that I have someone like him in my life. Although we can no longer see each other on a regular basis (he lives in the Midwest while I am on the east coast), he somehow still motivates me to carpe diem the eff out of life. So, thank you Twin, for all your strength and perseverance and spontaneity and fun. And just for you: I get it in.

Breathe A New Life

01| This blog began during my college years of fun, youthful naivete. However, I am now meandering down a path full of new discovery, and as a result, I feel the need to change the direction of my posts to a more personal level. I hope that this new cyber "space" will stand as a fortress for my burgeoning new life experiences and allow me to metaphorically put pen to paper of my passions, stressors, my highest highs and the lowest lows, and whatever else may come my way.

02| Life is funny in that one end brings life to a new beginning. I took advantage of the Apple store's college student special (with one month left on my old college ID before its expiration) to buy a new laptop - the very one I will now be using to document my post-graduation life. And of course I have taken all the necessary steps to extend its life by buying all the proper accoutrements (1 & 2) aka spending lots of money. And don't worry, I will post my reviews of the products after I receive them in the mail.

Sorry about the long hiatus! Sometimes we get so caught up when life happens and we forget everything else. Good news: expect regular posts again soon!
